GOVERNMENT OF INDIA BAN 59 CHINESE APPS

The Indian government decided to ban 59 applications linked to China, which includes TikTok, CamScanner, UC Browser, and many more because of the violence at the Ladakh border, final face-off between China ad India. The government of India announced the list of Chinese applications that got banned yesterday night. The government of India said that “These applications were unavailable in activities that were damaging to the authority, defense and morals of India”.

In India, TikTok has its largest users which are more than 200 million. ShareIt has more than 400 million users. The ministry of India received so many complaints from various sources about the misuse of the applications which are available on iOS and Android.

The government says that “The Ministry of Information Technology instance it’s power under section 69A of the Information Technology Act read with the applicable supplies of the Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking of Access of Information by Public) Rules 2009. In view of the beginning nature of warning has decided to block 59 apps since in view of the information available. Those which are engaged in activities that are harmful to the power of India, defense of India, the security of the state, and public order. The Indian application economy is valuable to China with more than 800 million smartphone users eager and ready to embrace content on their devices.

It is not clear if the government has asked Google and Apple to ban the TikTok app and other applications that are included in the list from the Play Store and App Store.
